2013 Maserati Quattroporte

2013 Maserati Quattroporte

The new Quattroporte looks MUCH better in these pictures, so we decided to share them. To read the opinion click here. In white, the the lines are much clearer, compared to the semi-matte-tan the car was released in. The car also looks better on the road than in the initial release. The powertrain options include a 3.0 liter V6 making 404 HP and a twin turbo 3.8 liter V8 making 523 HP. 0-60 is said to be 5.1 and 4.7 seconds for the V6 and V8 cars, respectively (those numbers are likely conservative, like all manufacture statistics). Another notable detail is an AWD option for the V6 model. Again, check out our opinion here and click on the jump for more pictures. Continue reading

Hennessy Venom GT

Hennessy Venom GT

Although I respect the incredible performance of this car, I still am not a fan. The top-of-the-line Venom GT produces about 1200hp, and goes from 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds. It also can go from 0-200 in just 15.3 seconds. For comparison, the Veyron does it in over 24 seconds. The car is based on the Elise, but only share the roof, doors, cockpit and other parts that are not involved with the performance of the car. So, the preformance aspects are great, but other cars offer a better experience for the money. The Venom GT costs about 1 million dollars, so its competitors include the Veyron, Huayra, 918, One-77 and Agera R. All of those have much better interiors and also sound better. The twin turbo V8 of the Venom GT is nice, but all of the other cars beat it in sound. The Venom GT’s interior is very much like a track car (as it should be) but, that does not mean it gets a “free pass” in terms of interior, especially for a car in this price range. Lastly, the exterior is where the Venom GT really loses it. Because it is based on the Elise, it looks a lot like…well, a stretched Elise. It’s competitors, on the other hand, are some of the most stunning cars for sale today. I would take any of it’s competitors over the Venom GT because of its exterior, interior and engine noise shortcomings.
