Lamborghini Murcielago

The Murcielago will go down as one of the best Lamborghinis ever. It was the last V12 Lambo to be offered with a manual transmission, and probably the least Audi-influenced car to be made after Lamborghini was acquired by Audi in 1998. The styling of the Murcielago is downright crazy, which is typical of Lamborghinis. The V12 is one of the best sounding engines made within the past decade. About in the middle of the big Lambo’s production run, it was facelifted. The facelifted car, called the LP-640, was given an updated exterior and more power. The interior of the Murcielago is one of its low points. It seems very dated, even in the facelifted LP-640 models. The “automatic” transmission option that was offered had been criticized for its brutal nature, but that is how it should be. All of the Murcielago’s weak points (optional auto, interior) actually combine to give it that crazy charecter that you just do not get in the Aventador or Gallardo. Used models are starting to approach the 120k mark, so within a couple of years, there will be some that go for under 100k. Hopefully then, whoever buys them will drive them, not keep them as a garage queen like some people do with their brand-new or expensive cars, so we will be able to hear and see these magnificent cars.
