Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray

Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray

Thank you, Chevy. Thank you very much. This is absolutely amazing. Just look at it! The new Corvette takes a huge evolutionary leap. It does still resemble the C6 slightly, but it is still looks very new, and is still instantly recognizable by non-car people as a Vette. The Stingray (name of base C7) has lots more details than its predecessor. There are more vents and creases, but all to great effect. There are already many criticisms on the styling of the Stingray floating around the car community. The biggest ones are a Viper-like front fascia and a GT-R-like roofline. Yes, we do see those, but they are not anywhere near “copying”. Of course there are going to be some similarities between front-engine, five-figure, 2 door supercars. Other complaints are small or not there at all. The engine is the new LT1, making an estimated 450hp and 450 ft-lb. According to GM, this is all good for a sub-4 second 0-60 time. The transmissions available include a 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed manual (yes, 7 speed). The manual gearbox has rev-matching on upshifts and downshifts. There is an optional Z51 performance package, which adds aero bits, larger wheels and mechanical upgrades. The interior is good. Did we just say that a Corvette interior was good? Yes. To our surprise too. It is covered in leather and vinyl, not plastic. The design of the interior looks great, too. The optional track seats look very much like the 458’s. One more thing…the Stingray badge looks great. The first C7 is expected to be auctioned off for charity, and all C7s will be be delivered to customers in the fall of 2013. Look for the ZR1 and ZO6 in the future. Very nice job, Chevy
