Wow. This car certainly looks…unique. The design is a huge departure from the boring, conservative and boxy Jeep Liberty. The Liberty (the car that the Cherokee is replacing) was not a bad car, but just an in-between car. If you wanted to go off-road, there were better choices. If you wanted something practical, there were better choices. If you wanted something luxurious, well, you get the point. The new Cherokee (not to be confused with the more expensive “Grand Cherokee”) has an improved interior and off-roading capabilities. It is available with either the 184hp Tigershark four-cylinder, or the Pentastar V6, making a stout 271hp. The transmission is a 9-speed automatic. The car has not been made available to reviewers yet, so we will have to wait and see how it drives. Fuel economy is also up to 31mpg. Its competitors include the Toyota Rav4, FJ Cruiser, Honda CR-V and others. The Jeep Cherokee is certainly a step up from its predecessor, the Liberty.
